Section 5.

1. Rapid Prototyping - Essentially a prototype for any technology used before the “bugs” are worked out would satisfy the definition of rapid prototyping. A classroom being issued the latest Apple iPad before the release date to use it in multiple forms of learning and giving the company feedback would be a specific example of rapid prototyping. Ultimately, this can be used in education to find the most appropriate formats and methods of presenting a technology to students as well as instructing the students with the technology. It allows you to realize the effectiveness or lack thereof based on the model that has already been developed and work out any kinks according to that.

2. Military Training- For those in a classroom setting I would capitalize on utilizing videos, online courses, online assessments and etc. During this time I would make sure that those with more knowledge and hire ranks thoroughly understood what was being taught. This would help with training and assisting others when on base and deployed. Portable devices could be utilized for training if there is not a direct access to electricity during deployment and on the base. Battery-powered devices could also be utilized.

3. GSTE- Since the ideas of GSTE and step-up-to-excellence are essentially the same, I would be sure to thoroughly understand both methods to be able to communicate them fluidly especially in introducing their connections. My development activity of choice would be role playing and going through an abbreviated scenario step by step so everyone has a general understanding. I would also use this as a way to get everyone on the same page and excited about the changes to come.

Human Performance Technology

1.      A performance problem at my workplace is the improper way that the teachers interact and handle the children. Many of the students have stopped attending the program altogether because of this.   If the program does not have an average of eighty children a day the state will no longer fund the program. Recently, a new person was hired as my supervisor. Before he was hired attendance was not at all a problem. Though it must be stated, I do not believe that he is the problem. The problem lies with teachers that are also new to the program.   Before starting a job one should have to thoroughly understand what the job entails. All educators should realize that having patience is so important. An educator’s goal is to develop their students in a particular area. Any and all development takes time; some students take longer than others.   My co-workers display no patience with the children, and in return the children do not respect them nor attend...

Reflection #3

1.           The Judicial/Adversary evaluation compares all sides of the innovation, the pros and cons, which is much like the defense and prosecution of a courtroom. The issues are researched and arguments are developed based on the research found. The ultimate goal is for everyone to understand what others’ perceptions of the innovations are. Though this model will be time consuming, I believe it to be the most beneficial. The students can be set up as required by this model in a court-like manner.   I would ask my students specifically how they felt about technologies and methods utilized in the class.   I would use their criticisms to tweak what I am doing or to find a new set of methods that would better suit them. As far as benefit is concerned, it will be beneficial for the students because they will be able to hear how the technologies are helping their classmates and could make them more acceptable to the technology as a whole. It is also ...

Hybrid Courses

1. Chapter 28 Hybrid courses are classes that involve face to face lectures as well as a web based portion of the course. My last semester of undergraduate classes I had a social statistics class that met twice a week, but the labs, homework and exams were online. The instructor would upload a PowerPoint presentation of the lectures each week on the ecollege page.   The lab occurred during a designated time apart from the lecture so we could receive extra help with the material covered in class, homework, or if you did not have computer access at home you could use your lab time to take advantage of the computers. Exams were also taken in the lab. We could use our textbooks during the exam, but many students still had trouble passing. What I realized after passing the course was that the professor used every resource available to him to help relay the knowledge needed to pass the course. It was up to the student to take advantage of the resources. This reason this became pre...
