Hybrid Courses

1. Chapter 28 Hybrid courses are classes that involve face to face lectures as well as a web based portion of the course. My last semester of undergraduate classes I had a social statistics class that met twice a week, but the labs, homework and exams were online. The instructor would upload a PowerPoint presentation of the lectures each week on the ecollege page.   The lab occurred during a designated time apart from the lecture so we could receive extra help with the material covered in class, homework, or if you did not have computer access at home you could use your lab time to take advantage of the computers. Exams were also taken in the lab. We could use our textbooks during the exam, but many students still had trouble passing. What I realized after passing the course was that the professor used every resource available to him to help relay the knowledge needed to pass the course. The website I chose to use to job search is www.jobtarget.com/ . The first position I found that was of interest was a position as an instructional designer. The minimum education is a bachelor’s degree, and it requires 2-3 of experience. The responsibilities of this position are as follows: 1) Design and develop a variety of learning solutions (web-based learning, instructor-led training, virtual training sessions), 2) Ensure that the instructional design of deliverables address business needs and performance issues identified in the design document, 3) Assure that training solutions incorporate best practices in adult learning theory, 4) Assist the project manager and sr. ISD in implementing the project, providing work estimates, progress status, and interacting with the client’s SMEs. I do not have the job experience required for this position though I do of course have the bachelors. I do believe I could hand...

1. Rapid Prototyping - Essentially a prototype for any technology used before the “bugs” are worked out would satisfy the definition of rapid prototyping. A classroom being issued the latest Apple iPad before the release date to use it in multiple forms of learning and giving the company feedback would be a specific example of rapid prototyping. Ultimately, this can be used in education to find the most appropriate formats and methods of presenting a technology to students as well as instructing the students with the technology. It allows you to realize the effectiveness or lack thereof based on the model that has already been developed and work out any kinks according to that.  2. Military Training- For those in a classroom setting I would capitalize on utilizing videos, online courses, online assessments and etc. During this time I would make sure that those with more knowledge and hire ranks thoroughly ...
